Application Access Control

Application Access Control

This page allows you to configure the application access permissions. These permissions apply only to non-administrator users and remote users. A user in the administrator group on the local machine can ALWAYS access WMI script, the command line, and the web interfaces, provided they are installed on the machine.

The access control permissions restrict remote access and access by non-administrator users on the local machine.

This page cannot be accessed from a remote machine. Access control parameters can be tweaked only from the local machine.

Note: The nCLI (Command Line Interface) parameter is displayed only if nCLI is installed on the machine. If you are accessing this page from a remote machine, this page is not accessible. If you are accessing this page from a non-administrator user login on the local machine, you cannot change the values.

Parameters

Parameter Description
nCLI(Command Line Interface) Allow or deny command line access to non-administrator users. The administrator users will always be able to access the nCLI command line interface.
The nCLI command line access is allowed by default.
WMI script Allow or deny WMI scripting access to non-administrator users. If disabled, no instances of WMI classes, which are part of the Nvidia namespace, will not be available through WMI script or other 3rd-party WMI application. Administrator users will always be able to access WMI using scripts.
WMI scripting is allowed by default.
Local Web access Allow or deny access to the web interface from the local machine. If local web access is denied, non-administrator users cannot access the web interface. The administrator users will always be able to access web interface.
By default local web access is allowed.
Remote Web access Allow or deny access to the web interface from a remote machine.
By default remote web access is denied.
Enabling remote access is a security risk, since the configuration information that is passed over the network is not encrypted.
When connecting to the web interface from a remote machine using http://machine name:3476/ , the user must type in 'admin' as the user name and the password. The username and the password are sent over the network in the clear (not encrypted). The remote user then gets administrator rights.
Password When you enable remote web access, you can set a password. The user name for remote access is 'admin'. By default the password string is empty (no password).
IP address:(optional)
IP address mask:(optional)
An IP address or a subnet (specified as a combination of an IP address and an IP address mask) can be used to restrict remote access to the machine.
By default there is no IP address or mask, so users from any machine are allowed remote access.
To restrict access to just one machine, you can specify an IP address and no IP address mask. Just specifying a IP address mask and no IP address is invalid.
